Finding your inner hero

Finding your inner hero

Author, Brenda Mallon, reveals why she is making a 'forgotten' generation the focus of her creative writing workshop…

"Over many years I have been struck by the number of times people known as 'Baby Boomers' - those born between 1945 and 1965 - describe themselves as being invisible or overlooked.

"The cult of youth has somehow marginalised a group who have incredible stories to tell. This creative writing workshop, especially for Baby Boomers, aims to redress the balance. Using the template of The Hero's Journey, we will explore how extraordinary our ordinary lives are and release untold stories that affirm our place in the world. We are all heroes!

"I won't be doing an age check! So, arm yourself with a pen and notebook or laptop and just come along if you want to discover your heroic self!"

A retired psychotherapist and experienced workshop leader, Brenda Mallon is the author of 18 published books including The Dream Bible, Building Continuing Bonds with Grieving and Bereaved Children and A Year of Creativity. Brenda has appeared in numerous TV programmes including In Your Dreams, a Channel 4 series. At present she is working on a memoir set in Ireland and India.

Brenda's workshop, The Extraordinary in the Ordinary, will take place 7 – 8.30 pm, Wednesday 26 June, at Oxfam, Didsbury – more information here
