Open House – Recent Textile Collages
Ariella Green

17 Spath Road, Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2QT

Ariella Green's work focuses on her move to Europe and the balance of memory and new reality within such displacement.

Recent work responds to international events; how difficult it is truly to reach each other across cultures and experience despite all our modern means of communication.

Since graduation (Goldsmiths College 1980), I have been a professional textile artist with regular one person and group shows (13 since 2012). I did an MA in Textile Art at MMU in the 90’s. My work aims to communicate and reach out to the viewer within the context of mythic subjects and narratives. Increasingly I embed words and ideas from my own poems and stories into the work. The collage technique helps me to think and to discover thoughts and feelings as I work. The technical side of manipulating the fabrics, using discharge and direct painting, and stitching gives me great pleasure.
