Didsbury Arts Festival

Didsbury Arts festival is a volunteer led multi arts festival celebrating creative culture in Didsbury, through working with local, national and international artists. 

We are a biennial festival. The next edition will take place from 24th June - 2nd July 2017. The festival theme will be Roots. If you would like to join the 2017 team, please get in touch.

Amy Bowles Solo Classical Guitar Plus Los Firuletes Tango Duo

Current RNCM Masters student Amy Bowles (classical guitar) returns to the festival for the second time. Amy’s programme includes solo works by Scarlatti and the Ravel-influenced Sonata by Antonio Jose.

Amy is joined by Art Bailey (Bandoneon) playing together as Los Firuetes Duo. The duo was formed in 2016, and play a mixture of traditional Argentinian music and Tango Nuevo, a style made famous by the great Astor Piazzolla.

About the Artist

Amy Bowles completed her bachelor of Music degree with Charles Ramirez at the University of Surrey and now continues her studies with Rory Russell of the Aquarelle Quartet and Fiona Harrison. As well as teaching at several schools and colleges in London and Manchester, Amy frequently participates in master classes with guitarists from all over the world, such as Graham Devine, Scott Tennant, Giulio Tampalini, Marchin Dylla, Craig Ogden and Gary Ryan. Since graduating Amy has continued her professional development and has been awarded both the performers diploma (DipABRSM) and the certificate of teaching (CT ABRSM). In 2014 Amy has performed and taught at the Elogia da Guitarra festival in Portugal and the Stoke Newington Guitar festival in London and has most recently given recitals at the Headingly Arts Centre in Leeds and the Didsbury Parsonage in Manchester.

Amy plays a 1991 Phillip Woodfield guitar.
